Semiya upma(vermicilli)

Ingredients
  • Semiya or vermicilli  roasted          250 gms
  • Onion                                           2nos
  • Tomatoes                                      2nos
  • Ginger(chopped)                           small piece
  • Green chillies                                 2chopped
  • Curry leaves                                  few
  • Peas                                             1/4cup
  • Salt                                               to taste
  • Lime juice                                     1tbs
To season
  • Oil                                               2tbs
  • Mustard seeds                             1tbs
  • Channa dhal                                 1tbs

Method

  1.Heat oil in a kadai(pan) and add mustard seeds.


  2.When it crackles add channa dhal(kadalai paruppu) and fry till golden brown.


  3.Add the cut onions,ginger,green chillies and curry leaves and fry.


  4.Add the tomatoes,peas,salt and cook till tomatoes become soft.


  5.Add two portions of water to vermicilli to these vegetables in the pan and allow it to boil.
     Add the vermicilli slowly and cook it closed till it is done.






  • Check if the vermicelli is roasted otherwise dry roast the vermicelli.
  • You can add some more vegetables like carrot and beans.
  • You can also make it without any vegetables.
  •  Can make it only with seasoning,ginger,green chillies and curry leaves.
  • It can be eaten as a breakfast or tiffin (snack)in the evening.
